Jazz: Jazz dance combines techniques of classical ballet and modern dance with the current forms of popular dance. Jazz also has its own movement vocabulary ranging from the isolation of certain body parts to the movement of the entire body with the accents of musical rhythms. Ballet: Ballet is considered the foundation of all dance. A classical dance form characterized by grace and precision of movement. Soft shoe & Pointe(on approval). CDTA Ballet Method. Leotard and ballet pink or nude colored tights.
Tap: A rhythmical tapping sound is attained by the dancer from the small metal plates on the dancer’s shoes. Tap transforms the dancer into a percussive musician. Leotard & tights or leggings. Tap shoes must be worn.
Modern Stage/Musical Theatre: Routines suited to stage productions, often taken from Broadway Musicals. Performances include dancing, acting, speaking and/or singing. Leotard and tights or leggings. Black jazz shoes.
Hip-
Lyrical: Emphasis on flowing movements while using Ballet and Jazz technique. May interpret the lyrics or mood of a song. Leotard and tights. Jazz shoes, foot undies or bare feet.
Contemporary: Contemporary dance is a dance style that originated as Modern Dance. It rejects many of the strict rules of classical ballet, focusing instead on the expression of inner feelings while emphasizing creativity in choreography and performance. Leotard and tights/leggings.
